These days it seems if you are not talking about social media over your low foam, skinny, double shot caramel latte then apparently you are a nobody. However, Gartners Hype Cylce for Emerging Technologies tells us we still have a while to wait for social media marketing to really kick in. It seems a long way from good old fashioned ecommerce, Intranets or usability. Not at KMP, today especially where saving cost is a good sales pitch, taking a look at our clients’ intranets is generating them great ROI from process optimisation and cost cutting.
No doubt social media is the "sizzle" at the moment and at KMP we are busy helping our clients understand how they can realise ROI from social media marketing. However, interestingly enough if you reference Gartners Hype Cycle for Emerging Technologies you will see where some of the fundementals of social media are in terms of years to mainstream adoption. I wouldn’t be giving away any trade secrets if I was to say that the hype cycle reflects accurately KMP’s sales achievements in social media.
In effecting cost saving for our clients one area we are looking at is their Intranet. This ranges from starting from scratch to tweeking existing systems. It is amazing how an intranet is ignored over the years and does not change with the business. Often if you want to see what your clients business looked like 3 years ago look at the Intranet and it will give you a good idea.
Interestingly though the theme of cost saving does exist on the Hype Cycle as well in Virtual Assistants, which KMP have been advocating and delivering for years now. These are now becoming more interesting as they perform well for organisations where cost saving in call centres is required. We have seen reductions with in-bound calls of up to 39% because enquiries are being fielded at the web level.
Usability is another area where KMP are delivering value for our clients. In todays climate it is more important than ever that every visit to a website is maximised where the visitor and the host both get the value they want easily and efficiently. Sometimes the smallest adjustment, for example how and where error messaging is displayed during form filling, can result in significant results.
So whilst KMP lectures on, gives workshops about and delivers sizzling social media marketing strategy for its clients we are also working hard on what delivers best ROI in the current climate and three areas are Intranet development, Virtual Assistants and Usability
