The Speak the Web mission

Speak the Web, co-organised by KMP’s Head of Interactive Richard Clark and freelance designer/developer Dan Donald have arranged four alternative conferences across the North of England that aim to combine the academic aspects of a business conference with the casual feel of a more grass-root meet-up. The events will pair up well known speakers with those who are either novices or who haven’t spoken on the web circuit before and so encouraging new ideas from new voices to be shared amongst the web community.

With events taking place in Sheffield, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester, Speak the Web is dedicated to promoting what is happening locally to event, but also, by having each speaker move around and express their thoughts outside of their city, Speak the Web hopes to bring together original ideas that will span the North of England.

The speakers for this event include KMP’s own – Jon Keefe, Rob Brown from Staniforth and Simon Rogers from Market Sentinel.

It promises to be a great event, with Jon Keefe finding out how “social media ready” your organistion really is, Rob Brown discussing the PR Challenges of the Social Web, and Simon Rogers showing us how to manage your reputation and measure the ROI.

This is one seminar not to be missed… With an impressive line up of speakers, including Rob Brown from Staniforth, Simon Rogers from Market Sentinel and the MD of KMP, Jon Keefe.

Jon will be discussing “Are you ready to manage your reputation,” where he will be finding out how social media ready your business really is.  Jon will talk about the resources, skills and time required to manage your company’s reputation compared to the resources that are currently available.

Rob Brown from Staniforth will be discussing the “PR Challenges of the Social Web,” including how reputations can be affected, how reputations are built and lost and how you can manage your brand’s reputation through the use of PR and social media.

Simon Rogers from Market Sentinel will be presenting “Managing your reputation and Measuring the ROI,” where he will discuss how you can manage your reputation online through finding and monitoring the conversations that are taking place about your brand on the web.

I’m pleased to say it was a success, there was some great discussions resulting from the sessions and everyone went away with lots of food for thought.

The Christmas-do took place at the City of Manchester Stadium, which was a talking point for the mixture of Manchester United, Everton and even Leeds fans amongst us!

None the less, after a combination of food, drink and dancing, a good time was had by all (even though I got roped into a Strictly Come Dancing competition with Jon, the MD!).

KMP has already got an action-packed seminar programme in place for 2009, so for those of you who regularly attend KMP seminars, you need to book quickly! The first event of 2009 is a Social Media workshop, however this has proved to be so popular that it’s now fully booked and we’ve had to organise another Social Media Workshop which will take place on the 11th February. There are only 2 places left though, so book now to avoid disappointment!

We first hosted this workshop at the beginning of October, and it proved to so popular that we decided to run another one before the end of the year!

The half-day workshop will be hosted by KMP's Social Media Expert, Paul Fabretti along with journalist and blogger, Craig McGinty.  In this hands-on and practical workshop, they will be guiding attendees through everything from the background of blogging, showing them how to set up their own blog, as well as how to communicate and engage with fellow bloggers!

There are a few places still available, so why not treat yourself before Christmas and pop along!

The workshop will take place on the 8th October at the MDDA in Manchester and will be hosted by KMP’s very own Paul Fabretti, as well as Journalist and blogger, Craig McGinty.

The aim of the workshop is to show people how easy it is to set up their own blog, and this hands-on approach is guaranteed to get people blogging! Paul and Craig will present a complete guide on blogging as a business communication tool, and will discuss everything from the background of blogging, to actually setting up a blog, and then engaging with your audience.

Due to the hands-on and practical nature of this workshop, there really is a very restricted number of tickets available for this unique workshop, so make sure you book early to avoid disappointment.

We’ve still got a month to go until we head to the big smoke and set up or camps temporarily in London, but we’ve already got some great companies registered. It’s exciting to see a refreshing mix of both PR and communication companies and uccessful brands, and this really promises to make for a lively discussion.
