Intranets

Intranets are defined here as private networks that use Internet protocols to securely share part of an organisation’s information or operations with its employees.  Intranets are generally restricted to employees of the organisation, as supposed to extranets which can be accessed by using a secure login by customers, suppliers, or other approved parties.

There are many advantages to a company investing in an intranet:

  • Increased Workforce Productivity
  • Improves communication
  • Improves level of corporate knowledge
  • Encourages collaboration

Because intranets and extranets are often managed by internal IT departments, we can build on existing intranets by adding bespoke functionality, create a corporate intranet from scratch using a proprietary content management product, or develop a complete bespoke application to an agreed specification.

Car Park Booking Engine

A few years ago we were contracted to build a bespoke car parking booking application for Manchester Airports Group, following a change to the airport car parks marketing strategy.  We were also responsible for promoting this facility through the various e-marketing channels.  After launch the revenues returned from the internet bookings increased by 300% within the first year. Subsequently online car parking bookings have been growing at the rate of 100% per annum.  Car parking at Manchester Airport is now being marketed in joint promotional campaigns with WH Smith and other airport retailers by offering a discount voucher to the store if you book your car parking online. This has proved to be a successful campaign idea for both the airport and the retailers.

At KMP we are now able to offer this experience to a wider customer base. The underlying software technology used for the Manchester Airport Car Park online booking system has been developed into a standardised online car parking application which we are now able to offer to businesses such as leisure and conference venues, and other businesses in which car park booking can be taken online.
