In 2012 the airport refreshed their brand and required a fresh, up-to-date website that reflected their new image. Our solution was an eye-catching, fully responsive website that ensured functionality was persisted across mobile, tablet and desktop platforms.
The site is built with HTML5 and CSS3 on Umbraco, the popular .NET CMS which combines a fully-featured solution with a large amount of flexibility. The modular, component based design allows content editors at Humberside to easily create varying templates based on underlying content modules.
Live flight information and holiday offers are fully integrated through 3rd party data providers. The site also uses our own car park booking product, AeroParker to manage their car park bookings and yield. Destinations and routes are plotted onto an embedded Google map, allowing customers the choice of navigating to their chosen route via a map, search or list view.
The site includes geolocation functionality, which serves users with location relevant content such as in-airport offers when the users are at the airport. Using geolocation we also pre-populate directions to the airport from the users current location (as provided by their browser).
To coincide with the launch of the new website we also designed and built several component based, responsive email templates within Campaign Monitor for Humberside to use for their marketing communications. Data captured from the website is passed directly through to Campaign Monitor, increasing the size of the marketing database.
The feedback received on the new site from staff, customers and partners was excellent. The site has also featured in the HTML5 gallery section of .net, a leading web design magazine.
